Emily Hemenway- Rice

Emily Hemenway was born and raised in Southeast Alaska, where she grew up in the remote town of Elfin Cove. Her parents were commercial fisherman, charter operators, and still live and work there today. From fresh seafood caught that day, to venison, to juicy wild Alaskan salmonberries. Emily learned to cook from her mother, who she swears deserves a Michelin star.

After graduating from high school in Juneau, she moved to Fairbanks where she attended UAF. She lived there for almost ten years while she married her husband Dustin, and had one son named Flynn. In 2013 she and her family relocated to Portland, Oregon where she still has ample access to fresh seafood and the bounty of the Pacific Northwest.

Nina Schwinghammer

Nina is a well seasoned Alaskan who grew up in Juneau, Alaska. She enjoys pulling fresh ingredients from the back yard and the wild spaces close to home. Her excitement for cooking started at an early age when she decided life was too short to eat canned food and frozen tv dinners. After attending college in Fairbanks for geography she moved to Anchorage with her boyfriend Allan. They have two dogs and three hens who enjoy all of the kitchen scraps.
